India being the second largest population in world almighty the first as per current report. China is the second incumbent. So far, the need of resources for such a large population for industry, automobile and other sectors are being fulfilled by the traditional fossil fuels, hydro and solar energy. All these segments of energy are limited in their quantity and capacity. The other disadvantage of the fossil fuel is their production cost and pollution after usage. Fossil fuel release high amount of carbon extracts after usage.
Fossil fuels are extracted by deep borewell technique and high cost of production and then refining it for commercial usage. The quantity of Petroleum production is limited and around 70% of the demand is met with importing from gulf countries which levies serious burden on Indian economy. Each country is working on the alternate of these fossil fuel and electric and Solar system are upcoming version of energy sources. India has come out to be the International icon for Solar possibilities. Solar system has limits as steady and constant supply of sun rays is mandatory to charge the silicon chips that produce electric current that is stored in cathode tube based batteries.
Lithium Ion is the next successor of the ongoing technologies. Lithium Ion based battery produce high charge and charging capacity is very high, lithium Ion waste material is also minimum and is eco friendly so far. Due to this significance, it is termed as White Gold. India has launched Lithium based E-Vehicles that are running very commonly on roads now a days.
Lithium Reservoirs have been found in Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar also. Around 5.9 million tones of lithium has been found in Jammu & Kashmir this year only. Geological Survey of India, the institution responsible for surveys and mining of minerals in India is working on it. However it can take 7-8 year to start full capacity production of lithium from these reservoirs.
Technology tycoons are glancing at India for new possibilities of Lithium based Vehicles, machineries and other daily appliances. Use of Lithium will replace the dependency on fossil fuels very soon and it will cut down the cost of production. Also India will save a big part on import of fossil fuels form gulf countries, Thus boosting the economy in other sectors. A check can be put on the pollution also and lowering down the figures in Carbon footprints of India on global chart. India is on 5th place in Lithium reserves over the world map. Thus Lithium could be a game changer in the energy sector in upcoming decades.
