Civil Services in India - A Career Opportunity or Status Craving !

India is a diverse country spread across states, divided by boundaries, rivers, mountains from east to west Arunchal Pradesh, Rajasthan, North to South Kashmir to Kerala with so much diverse culture, languages but still our nation is a unitary icon. A single constitution  holds the dignity of each civilian to the nation. When come to political and Administrative structure, India is democratic, sovereign country with a liberal and moderate system providing each deprived to express himself, to oppose the unfair with him. The key to the whole system in decision making, policy drafting, evaluation of the schemes implemented for wellness and development of infrastructure, basic needs , social activities is bureaucracy . A mechanism that controls the whole government system and unifies the end to end of the country i.e. the last beneficiary to the government. Civil Services Exam is a hard core exam that takes a year long time and around 10 exams with interview to select the finest mind to serve the society.

In Recent days, UPSC has come out to be a fast growing choice among the new graduates. IIT, IIM and other top notch alumnus seek a career in Civil Services. Hundreds of Coaching Institutions have been established in few years in Mukherji Nagar, Indira Colony only. These Institution charge high for providing Coaching and other valuable study material to the aspirants by the institutions. As a report a popular institution charge around 2-2.5 lacs rupees only for the preliminary exam.  UPSC conducts a combined exam for IAS (Indian Administrative Services), IPS (Indian Police Services), IFS ( Indian Foreign Services) and other allied services like IFoes ( Indian Forest Services), IRS (Indian Revenue Services) etc. Aspirants live in a miserable condition in Paying guests rooms and spend a hand to mouth life and remains disconnected from the normal day routines. Some aspirants crack the exam and joins the  training Institute situated as Lal Bahadur Shashtri Academy of Administration in Mussorrie for training purpose and qualifying candidates for IPS training are shifted to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Policy Academy, Hyderabad. After a year long physical endurance and training, these Civil Servants are allotted cadres on the basis of their marks and ranks.

Everything is fine till the last day of training but as soon as the newly selected aspirant joins the place of posting, his/her mindset is completely changed. He/She seeks the status or gratitude from the public and the subordinates. The will to change the society is completely diversifies with greed of fulfilling self goals. This leads to the corruption, bribe and crime. Number of cases are registered in which civil servants are indulged in financial frauds, scams, bribes etc. Here we think that a civil servant can also be like that a criminal. This is the other side of coin. Bureaucrats are the foundation pillar of our country. If Bureaucracy works with their all Zest and Zeal, India could have a better picture on Globe.
