Kohli: The Unpredictable Cricket!

Cricket is a game of uncertainties already, but it can put a question mark on someone’s career. It is really to be checked out. Virat Kohli one of the commended name, that is chanted by every cricket lover. Virat has been given breakthrough in 2008 after his tremendous performance in U-19 World Cup and with the glories of winning the U-19 world cup. In One dayer international cricket, Virat stunned everyone with quality performance.  Born on 05 November 1988 in Delhi Virat used to practice in Firozshah Kotla ground with other youngsters as Gautam Gambhir, and other class runners. Gautam was awarded Man of the Match but he awarded this to Virat for his performance. Next when Suresh Raina, one of the emerging players of the Indian Cricket Team was chosen s Captain for Indian Team for the tour of Zimbabwe as many of the players were given rest for the upcoming champions’ trophy and other international tours. Virat performed in a constant flow not being the best one or the worst. In ICC champions trophy he continued to struggle with his performance but still INDIAN Cricket team kept faith in him. In June-July 2011, Sachin and other big players of the team were given rest, Virat Kohli made his test début against Australia.

His performance was defensive for he was taunted a lot but he put himself in problem by showing Middle finger to the crowd and he was fined for 50% of the match fees. Although he was the best run scorer of the tournament as India got a 0-4 wash in the tournament. Now Kohli was appointed as Vice-Captain in 2012 in Bangladesh for his performance in Australia. This could be taken as a reward of the work.  In Asia cup he scored two centuries and fastest centuries after Younis Khan in Asia cup also was awarded as Man of the Match but India could not make their way to the Finals. In 2013, Australia visited India and Kohli made as stunning 147 to make it a white wash against Australia in last four decades. In 2013, it was the first time when Virat Kohli took as Captain as Mahender Singh Dhoni got injured during the match against West Indies. Kohli keep the team leading for the rest of the matches as Dhoni could not recover Kohli smashed a powerful century just in 83 balls. In 2014 at England Tour, it was a very poor performance, only two matches out of five. He scored double digit runs. India conceded a 4-1 defeat in a 5 match tournament. Kohli was brighter after 2016, in test cricket, back to back test centuries against Australia and Pakistan and Completed 10,000 runs in ODI and fasted after Ricky Ponting. In 2017, Virat Kohli scored 30 Centuries in One Day International Cricket. He scored fastest centuries during the run chase among these teams. In 2017, India gave the charge as Captain to Virat Kohli against Bangladesh. India made it possible to the Final but lost against Pakistan by 180 runs that was a huge defeat. In 2019, he completed 20000 runs in International Cricket and he was the fastest player to do so. He performed 5 consecutives fifties in the tournament but India lost against New zeland in semi finals. In 2020 during COVID cricket was not possible as whole world was facing a war against Covid. In 2020-2022 he has just scored 218 runs in 12 innings which is all time lowest of this player. In Sept 2021, he announced as to leave the captainship form all the formats of the cricket. Questions have been provoking on the performance of the played that is struggling with his performances from last two year. Meanwhile greatest player of all times Dhoni has announced his retirement form all the formats of cricket.
